10 days best of Uganda safari detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
As you begin your Uganda safari, the guide will brief you on your safari before you set off. We will have an early departure to avoid traffic. We will have a breakfast stop at the Kabalega diner before proceeding to Zziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino trekking.
After a safety briefing, we will go on foot to find the various rhinos. On finding them, we will observe them as they graze. After the rhino trek, we will continue to Murchison falls national park. We will head straight to the top of the Murchison falls. Here, the River Nile is forced sown an 8 meter gap falling 50 meters into the Albert Nile. This creates sprays that go more than 50 meters in the air. This creates an ever present rainbow creating an amazing scenic atmosphere.
We will continue to our lodge where we will retire and enjoy a relaxing evening on our 10 days best of Uganda safari.
Day 2: Murchison falls game drive and Boat cruise.
Following an early breakfast, we will venture out for a morning game drive. This is done on the savannah plains of the park. On this drive, we will see plenty of wildlife like giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, buffalo, hippos, antelopes and plenty of bird species. This drive lasts up to 4 hours. We will return to the lodge for an early lunch.
After our lunch, we will head out for an afternoon boat cruise. This cruise takes us to the bottom of the Murchison falls. This boat cruise offers relaxing yet thrilling moments on your Uganda Safari. We will see more wildlife like elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and antelopes. Bird species like woodland King Fisher, African fish eagle, Amalekite kingfisher, Egyptian geese can be seen on this cruise. We will return to the lodge for the evening.
Day 3: Transfer from Murchison falls to Kibale national park.
On this day of this Uganda safari, we will have an early start as we head towards Kibale Forest. We will enjoy the scenic drive on the Albertine rift. We will have a few stop overs for lunch and some exercise. On arrival in Kibale Forest, we will check into our lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi community walk.
Proceeding an early breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a brief. The rangers will take us through the guidelines for chimpanzee trekking. Thus ensures a smooth and enjoyable chimpanzee trekking safari. We will enter the forest in search of these primates.
On making contact, we will have enough time to observe them as they interact with each other and nature. We will watch them eat, play and groom. Other than the chimpanzees, we will be able to see grey checked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys. We will return to the lodge for relaxing afternoon.
In the evening, we will embark on an evening nature walk in the Bigodi wetland. Plenty of birds can be seen in this sanctuary like the great Turaco. Wildlife like sitatunga can be seen in this swamp.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth
After breakfast, we will begin our journey to Queen Elizabeth national park. We will enjoy the scenic views of the tea plantations, crater lakes and Mountain Rwenzori. On arrival at Queen Elizabeth, we will check into our lodge, have an early lunch and head out for an afternoon boat cruise.
This boat cruise takes place on the Kazinga channel and offers amazing safari encounters. With over 600 bird species, most of these species can be seen on this cruise. More wildlife like elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and antelopes can be seen as they come for a drink in the channel. After the boat cruise we will retire to the lodge for the night.
Day 6: Game drives in Queen Elizabeth
This day of our 10 days best of Uganda safari, we will have game drives on the Kasenyi plains. In a customized vehicle, we will head out in search for the wildlife. We hope to see animals like lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, antelopes and plenty of bird species. We will stop at the kasenyi crater and learn how salt is mined from the crater lakes. This drive lasts up to 4 hours. We will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the evening, we will still venture out for another game drive. On this game drive, we hope to see the wildlife we might have missed in the morning game drive. The second game drive allows us to watch these magnificent animals at our pace. We will return in time for diner.
Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After a lazy breakfast, we will begin our drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest. We shall drive through the Ishasha sector which is famous for the tree climbing lions. If we are lucky, we will be able to spot them. On arrival in Bwindi, we will check into the lodge and enjoy a soothing evening with the views and sounds of the forest.
Day 8; Gorilla trekking and Community walk
On this day, we will go gorilla trekking. This is one of the most sought after safari activity on any Uganda Wildlife safari. After breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, we will be divided into groups of 8 to trek different gorilla families. Led by an experienced ranger, we will head into the forest in search of the gorillas.
The trek through the forest is amazing. The sound of the birds enhance your trekking experience. When the gorillas are spotted, you will have an hour with them. You will observe them as they eat, play and go about their lives. The rangers will answer any questions you might have. According to the location of the gorillas, the gorilla trekking takes from 2-8 hours.
We will return to the lodge for a relaxing afternoon. In the evening, we will have a community visit of the Batwa people. These were displaced as a result of the conservation process. We will get to experience their daily lives and learn more about their culture through their food and music. We will return to the lodge and enjoy a safari evening.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National park.
After a warm breakfast, we will depart Bwindi for Lake Mburo national park. We will enjoy the scenic drive through the rolling hills of Bwindi and Kabale. We will make a stopover in Mbarara for lunch. On arrival, we will check into our lodge and relax for the evening.
Day 10: Nature walk and return to Kampala.
On the last day of our 10 days best of Uganda safari, we will go a morning nature walk. On this walk, we will get closer than ever before by walking among the wildlife in the park. We will get close to Zebras, impala, buffalo, giraffes, eland, warthogs and many more.
After the nature walk, we will check out of the lodge and head for Kampala. We will make a stopover at the equator for some pictures and a drink before continuing to Kampala. On arrival, the guide will drop you at your hotel or airport in time for your flight. This will end your 10 days best of Uganda safari.
