9 day Uganda Wildlife and hiking safari detailed itinerary
On arrival, the guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, you will be briefed on your 9 day Uganda Wildlife and hiking safari. You will get a well-deserved rest from your journey before embarking on your Uganda wildlife safari tour.
Day 1: Transfer to Sipi falls
After a restful night, we will have an early departure for our 9 day Uganda Wildlife and hiking safari. We will head towards the eastern part of Uganda to Sipi falls. We will have a breakfast stop in Jinja before proceeding to Mbale. Here, we will have an early lunch before proceeding to Sipi falls. On arrival, we will check into the lodge and enjoy the views and the thunderous roar of the waterfalls.
Later in the evening, we will embark on an evening walk that will take us to the King’s rock. Here, the rock is perched on a plateau that overlooks the lowlands of the flat lands of the eastern Uganda. The sunsets are romantic and spectacular. Pop open a bottle of wine and relax as we watch the sun go down. Later, we will hike back to the lodge for a relaxing dinner and night.
Day 2: Hike Sipi falls
Day 2 of this Uganda wildlife and hiking safari starts with a healthy breakfast and freshly brewed coffee which sipi is known for. With local guides leading the way, we will explore the 3 series of waterfalls that make up Sipi falls. The roar and the sprays of water as we near the Sipi falls is thrilling. We will visit the caves beneath the falls and swim in the pools made by the falls. On the last waterfall, we will abseil down the 100 meter waterfall enjoying the spectacular views on the way down. We shall hike back to the lodge, enjoy our delicious lunch and relax for the afternoon.
Later in the afternoon, we will visit the local communities and undertake a coffee tour. Sipi falls is located on the slopes of Mount Elgon and is famous for its Arabica coffee. On this coffee tour, the local farmers will take us through the process of planting, growing and harvesting the coffee beans. At the end of the coffee tour, we will make our own freshly brewed coffee. We will retire to the lodge and enjoy a relaxing evening by the camp fire. That will mark the end of our day 2 of our 9 day Uganda Wildlife and hiking safari
Day 3: Depart for Moroto
On the third day of our Uganda wildlife and hiking safari, we will have an early star as we head to Moroto. The scenic drive through Pain Upe game drive will give us a chance to see some wildlife like ostriches, impala and elands. The escarpments in Nakapiripit offer spectacular views. On arrival in Moroto, we will check into our lodge, have a delicious lunch as we prepare for the afternoon hike. This hike takes up to 3 hours and takes you half the mountain. The scenery on the mountain is amazing, offering views of the lowlands and the town below. We will return to the lodge and relax for the evening.
Day 4: Transfer to Kidepo valley national park
After an early breakfast, you will depart Moroto town and head for Kidepo national park. This scenic drive allows you to enjoy the different terrain of rock formations and the Karamajong people as they go about their day. The manyatta (local homesteads) can be seen on this drive through Kotido and Kabong district. On arrival in Kidepo national park, we will check into the lodge for the evening.
Day 5: Morning and evening game drives
The day will begin with an early start as we head into the wilderness in search of the wildlife. With a trained ranger, we will drive through the Savannah plains looking for the abundant wildlife in the park. We hope to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, elands, giraffes, water bucks, buffaloes and plenty of bird species.
We will have a bush breakfast as we enjoy the views of the savanna plains. We will continue our game drive for more wildlife like zebra, warthogs, baboons and many more. We will head back to the lodge for lunch and some rest before embarking on another game drive in the evening. This game drive gives us the chance to see the wildlife we may have missed the previous game drive. More so, each game drive offers something unique. We will retire to the lodge for the evening and night.
Day 6: Nature walk and evening sun downer
After an early breakfast at the lodge, we will head onto the savanna plains yet for another adventure. With an armed ranger, we will have a nature walk in the park. This nature walk brings us ever so closer to the wildlife. We will be able to enjoy the scent, touch and feel the wilderness. The armed ranger will keeps us safe on our nature walk. After the nature walk, we will have lunch at the lodge and relax for the afternoon.
In the evening, we will head out for a sun downer on the Amavas rock. This rock provides epic views of the Narus valley and the unbelievable sunsets. Here, we will enjoy a glass of wine, coffee or soft drink as we watch the amazing scenery of Kidepo valley national park.
Day 7: Transfer to Murchison falls
Day 7 of this 9 day Uganda Wildlife and hiking safari sees us departing Kidepo valley national park for Murchison falls national park. The drive is scenic offering rock crop ups and the local villages. We will have a lunch stopover at Aruu falls where we will hike down and be amazed at the beauty of the waterfalls. We will take a dip in the water to wade off the afternoon heat. A picnic lunch will refresh us for the remaining part of the journey to Murchison falls. On arrival in Murchison falls national park, we will check into the lodge and relax enjoying the views of the wilderness on this Uganda safari tour.
Day 8: Game drive and boat cruise
Following an early breakfast, we will head out onto the plains of Murchison falls national park for a morning game drive. On this game drive, we hope to see elephants, lions, giraffes, kobs, hartebeests, hyenas, lions, leopards, buffalo and many more. This drive takes up to 4 hours after which we will return to the lodge for an early lunch.
After lunch, we will head out for an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile. This boat cruise takes us 2 hours to the bottom of Murchison falls. On this cruise, we will encounter wildlife like hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and plenty of bird species like king fisher, lapwing, sacred ibis, African fish eagle and many more. At the bottom of the falls, the views of the Murchison falls and Uhuru falls are magnificent. We will disembark and hike to the top of the falls. The hike takes up to 45 minutes but offers epic views of the falls. At the top, we will encounter the real might of Murchison falls. Here, the Nile is forced through a 7 meter gap and then falls 50 meters into the Albert Nile. The roar and spray created by the falls is astounding. A rainbow is ever present. After exploring the falls, the guide will transfer you to your lodge for the evening and night
Day 9: Rhino trekking and transfer to Kampala.
On the last day of this 9 day Uganda Wildlife and hiking safari, we will have an early start as we depart Murchison falls national park. We will check out through Masindi town and make a stop at Zziwa rhino sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to the only wild rhinos in Uganda. After a safety briefing, we will hike into the wilderness in search of the white rhino.
Carefully following the instructions of the rangers, we will locate the rhinos. We will observe them as they feed and interact with each other. With over 35 rhinos in the sanctuary, you are sure to see enough families to satisfy your adventurous side. After the rhino trekking, we will have an early lunch as we prepare to head back to Kampala. On arrival in Kampala, the guide will drop you off at your hotel or airport in time for your flight.
