Mainly comprised of rain forest, Kibale national park has swamps, rivers and grasslands. With over 1,400 chimpanzees, the park is a prime destination for chimpanzee trekking.

3 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
On the first day of your 3 days chimpanzee trekking safari, the guide will pick you from your hotel/airport and you will embark on your journey to Kibale forest. On your drive, you will enjoy the amazing views of the landscape, traditional homes and the various bird species. The views of the plantations are remarkable. We will make a lunch stopover in Fort portal before checking into our lodge.
We will relax for the evening, taking in the sights and views of the crater lakes.
Day 2: Chimpanzees trekking.
We will have an early breakfast in preparation for our chimpanzee trekking. We will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. Here, we are taken through the rules and regulations and the expectations of chimpanzee trekking. We will then be allocated a chimpanzee community to trek. Then the trek begins.
Led by an experienced ranger, we will venture into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. The ranger will answer any questions we might have regarding the forest, birds and the chimpanzees. On seeing the primates, we are allowed an hour with them and we will get the opportunity to watch them play, eat, sleep and swing from the tree branches.
We will return to the lodge for a relaxing lunch. Later in the evening, we will venture out to the Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Here, we will enjoy the amazing sights of butterflies, animals and rare bird species like Papyrus Gonolek and Great Blue Turaco. Other primates like Red colobus monkeys are easily seen in this sanctuary.
Day 3: Return to Kampala.
On the last day of this 3 days Uganda chimpanzee trekking safari, we will have a late breakfast as we prepare to head back to Kampala. We will depart Kibale for Kampala, enjoying the views as we drive through the hills of Kyenjojo. On arrival in Kampala, the guide will drop you at your hotel or airport. That will mark the end of your 3 days chimpanzee trekking safari
